01 — Quick Start

Pairing & Configuration

Core Link supports multiple system configurations and is designed for quick setup in the field. Complete 1:1, 1:2, 1:3, and 1:4 kits ship pre-configured and paired. Additional units can be paired to an existing system as needed.

Configuration 01

1:1 Configuration

For maximum range and performance, configure one unit as an RX and the other as a TX. RX and TX mode is set using the internal DIP switch on the main board.

Dedicated RX and TX units arrive pre-configured and labeled, so opening the enclosure is unnecessary.

Pairing Procedure

  1. Power on both devices and install the antennas.
  2. Press and hold the pairing button on both units simultaneously until the LEDs flash.
  3. Release both pairing buttons.
  4. Wait for the pairing process to complete.
  5. Solid blue LEDs indicate a successful connection. The RX unit also displays a red LED indicating Receiver mode.
Configuration 02

1:Many Configuration

A single RX can communicate with up to four TX units. Because all communication passes through the RX, its placement is important for maintaining optimal range and reliability.

Add Additional TX Units

  1. Pair the first TX to the RX.
  2. Power on the next TX and repeat the pairing procedure.
  3. Continue until all required TX units have been added.
Range Consideration

Bandwidth is shared as additional TX units are connected, which may reduce maximum range. Powering off inactive TX units allows the system to operate like a smaller configuration.

System Management

Unpairing

Core Link does not have a dedicated unpair function. To remove a unit from a system, pair it to a different receiver or change its operating mode between RX and TX.

Step 01

Reset Network Settings

  1. Press and hold the MENU button.
  2. Navigate to Maintenance.
  3. Select Network Reset → Execute.
  4. Power cycle the camera.
Step 02

Configure Authentication

  1. Press and hold the MENU button.
  2. Navigate to Technical → Authentication.
  3. Leave the default Admin username unchanged.
  4. Set an administrator password of your choice.

Configure Network Settings

  1. Press and hold the MENU button.
  2. Navigate to Technical → Network.
  3. Set Setting to LAN.
  4. Return to the Network menu.
  5. Navigate to Network → LAN.
  6. Set DHCP to OFF.
  7. Enter the required manual network settings.

Step 01

Connect the Ethernet Adapter

  1. Connect the USB-C to Ethernet adapter to the Sony FX6.
  2. Connect the RJ45 Ethernet cable to the Core Link and the USB-C to Ethernet adapter.
  3. Power on the camera and both Core Link units.
VERIFIED USB-C TO ETHERNET ADAPTER

The only USB-C to Ethernet adapter we recommend and have verified to work with the Sony FX6 and Core Link is the SmallHD USB-C to Ethernet Adapter. While other adapters may function, we do not recommend using them with Core Link.

Step 02

Enable Wired LAN Control

  1. Press the MENU button.
  2. Navigate to Network → Wired LAN.
  3. Set Setting to On.
  4. Set Cam. Remote Ctrl to Enable.
  5. Select Detail Settings.
Step 03

Enter the Manual Network Settings

Inside Detail Settings, disable automatic network configuration and enter the following values.

Save the Configuration

Select Set at the bottom of the Detail Settings menu. The control device must use a different IP address in the same network range, such as 10.10.10.1.

Step 01

Connect Core Link

  1. Connect the RJ45 Ethernet cable to the Ethernet port on the Blackmagic PYXIS.
  2. Connect the other end of the Ethernet cable to Core Link.
  3. Power on the camera and both Core Link units.

Open the Ethernet Settings

  1. Open the camera menu.
  2. Select the Setup tab.
  3. Locate Network Settings.
  4. Select Ethernet.

Enter the IP Address

Set the Ethernet connection to use a manual IP address and enter the following network values.

Configure the DNS Settings

Turn off automatic DNS configuration and enter the following values.

Set the Camera Password

  1. Open the camera password setting.
  2. Enter a password for remote camera access.
  3. Confirm and save the password.
  4. Enter this same password when connecting through your control device on the Blackmagic Camera app.
Record the Password

The password is case-sensitive and must be entered exactly the same way on the control device.

Step 06

Turn Off Stream Information

  1. Open the camera menu.
  2. Select the Setup tab.
  3. Navigate to Stream Information.
  4. Set Stream Information to Off.
Cleaner Monitor Feed

Turning Stream Information off reduces unnecessary status graphics on the camera display, making the image easier to monitor during production.

03 — Control Device

iPhone & iPad Setup

Configure the Ethernet connection manually before opening your preferred camera-control application.

  1. Turn Wi-Fi off on the iPhone or iPad.
  2. Connect the Ethernet adapter.
  3. Open Settings → Ethernet.
  4. Select Configure IP → Manual.
  5. Enter the settings shown below.

Open the Camera-Control Application

Open Safari, ARRI Companion, Sony Monitor & Control, Blackmagic Camera app, or your preferred control application and enter the camera’s IP address.

04 — Troubleshooting

Connection Support

No Connection

  1. Verify power to both Core Link units.
  2. Verify both Ethernet connections.
  3. Confirm the camera and control device are on the same subnet.

Unable to Pair

  1. Confirm one unit is configured as RX.
  2. Confirm the other unit is configured as TX.
  3. Repeat the pairing procedure.
03

Reduced Range

  1. Move the RX to a more central location.
  2. Verify the antennas are installed correctly.
  3. Reduce the number of active TX units when maximum range is required.
